Two going on Twenty-Two

Yesterday I took the boys to the Wiggly's Play center for Carson's birthday. They both LOVE that place! When Jeremy got off of work we decided to meet at Hooters for dinner. I know, I know...nice place to take your kids for dinner, but it's loud so they can be loud and it's good! Our waitress started talking to Colby and Carson and asked how old Carson was. When I told her it was his birthday she asked if they could sing to him. When we were finished eating she took him to the middle of the restaurant and announced to the entire place that they had a special birthday...Carson is TWO today! The Hooters girls gathered around him and sang Happy Birthday. Poor Carson had no idea what was going on, but he stayed up there until they were finished. I looked at Jeremy and told him we were the worst parents ever! I am sure Carson will be proud of this picture one day...

Happy Birthday Carson!

Today is my baby's 2nd birthday. It's hard to believe how fast these past two years have gone by! Before Carson was born I only knew what it was like to be a mother to one, an easy going little boy. Carson definitely changed our lives. He had a little bit of a rough start with all his respiratory trouble, but thankfully is much better. Although he was not the laid back baby Colby was, Carson could always melt your heart. He is my little strong willed child but is so sweet and loves to cuddle. He is all boy and LOVES to play ball. He can throw a temper tantrum like I have never seen and then a minute later hug me and say "hi momma" in his sweet little voice. I am so blessed to be Carson's mommy. Happy Birthday Car Car! I love you!

Merry Christmas 2008

Christmas gets more fun every year as the kids get older. Almost every night since Thanksgiving Colby has been asking "is Santa coming tonight?" It is a long wait for a little boy! Everyday we would put another number on our calendar and he would count how many days we had before Christmas. He would jump up and down and be so excited. We tried explaining why Christmas is so special and he would always say "because it's Baby Jesus' birthday AND Aunt Molly's birthday".
Well, Baby Jesus and Aunt Molly's birthday finally arrived. First we celebrated Christmas with Jeremy's family. Colby and Carson always love going to over to "Papa with the swimming pool" especially when all their cousins are there. (Colby refers to his other Papa as "Papa at Kaden's house").

On Christmas Eve we went over to Mimi and Papa's house. We went to church and then back to their house for dinner (which of course included oyster stew) and to open presents. It was nice to have everyone there together. Carson was entertained by his first two presents he opened, a toothbrush and a baseball bat and tee...his favorite things in the world! After several "lovelys" by Old Mimi we headed home with two very sleepy boys.

Jeremy and I were hoping the boys would sleep in a little bit because we had a late night putting together Santa toys. They were both up at 7:30am, which is sleeping in for them! Colby ran out to the living room and was so excited to see what Santa had left for him. Carson went straight for his new baseballs Santa brought him and Colby was very happy to see that he had gotten his Scooby Doo game he had asked for EVERYTIME the commercial came on TV. Then they saw their new toys for the backyard...a fun tent and a trampoline! Just so everyone knows, a deal was made that Jeremy would be the one making all ER visits due to this trampoline!

Jeremy and I exchanged gifts with each other. He gave me a trip to Lubbock! Many people would not consider that a gift ( I can't understand why people don't have the same love for Lubbock as I do), but he did this for me last year and I loved it. I get to go and visit my dear friend and old college roommate, Lauren. We had so much fun last year that I told Jeremy I wanted it for Christmas every year!

Our Christmas day was spent putting that trampoline together. It only took about six hours! But, it is finally together and the kids love it!
We had a wonderful Christmas. I think this last picture is how we all felt once Christmas was over...our sweet little Carson asleep under the Christmas tree.

Tis the Season

I LOVE holidays, especially Christmas, and this year I was really looking forward to it because of my two week Christmas break. I was so excited to be able to do all the Christmas activities with the kids that I never seemed to have time for with my old job. Of course we had to get into the Christmas spirit by stopping by to visit Santa Claus. I was afraid Carson might be scared of him this year, but he walked right up to him and said "Hi, Santa!" He climbed right up into his lap next to Colby. Colby told Santa he had been a good boy (which for the most part was true) and that he wanted dinosaurs for Christmas. Then Santa turned to Carson and asked him if he had been a good boy. Colby jumped in and said "him don't talk, but him likes Elmo". Colby is such a good big brother!

We also went to look at Christmas lights by the lake. The boys were so excited to have Papa join us. The liked pointing out all the lights as we drove along. Half way through the light display we stopped to ride some fun rides. All of the boys rode the carosel and some spinning dragon ride. They loved them...especially the spinning dragon. I could hear Colby and Carson laughing so loud!

A few days before Christmas we had Gretchen, Brady, Tonya, Evan, Breckin, Jessica and Selah over to decorate cookies for Santa. Colby was excited about this because he wanted to make sure we left cookies and milk for Santa and some carrots for the reindeer. It was fun getting all the kids together...that definately doesn't happen often enough! Poor Selah was the only girl among five boys, but I think she is getting used to it! We were so excited that Gretchen and Brady were able to join us. They are finally back from Germany!

My kids say some funny things sometimes...here are a few of my favorite Christmas quotes from Colby this year: "Daddy, if you see Santa's reindeer, don't shoot them with your shoot gun, okay?" "Mommy is that was heabens (heaven) looks like?" "Carson, that is baby Jesus, but him is not dead yet."

I am going to try this out...

Ok, I have been wanting to create a blog for our family and I am finally going to give it a shot. I hope to be able to keep up with it, but we'll see how that goes. I want everyone to stop in and see what the boys are doing. They grow up so fast and I think it will be neat to look back at this in the future.
