I'm dreaming of a WHITE Christmas!

When Colby was two years old he woke up on Christmas morning and before he looked to see what Santa had brought, he looked out the window and very sadly said, "It's NOT snowing!" Well, this year was different! It started snowing on Christmas Eve and we woke up to a WHITE Christmas! We went to my parent's house on Christmas Eve after church to eat and open presents. I love Christmas Eve. It's so fun to watch how excited the kids get and then go home and play Santa : ) It took us a long time to get home that night due to the weather. The roads were icy and there were cars sliding all over the place. We made it home safely and had a perfect WHITE Christmas day! Colby woke us up saying "Santa came and there's a bike out there". We had a fun day of playing with toys and playing in the snow!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!

I can't believe how fast the time goes between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's always such a busy time of year! The beginning of December was spent getting ready for Christmas and getting used to our new schedule. Jeremy has adjusted to his new job and new sleeping schedule. Carson started a mothers day out program on Tuesdays and Thursdays and is loving being back at "school". His first day of school happened to be the same night as their Christmas program. He only had one day to learn the songs but did great in the performance! His class sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and one other song and then they each got to say their name into the microphone. Too cute!
Our neighborhood had a tree lighting event. They brought in ice/snow for the kids to sled down the hill. Little did we know that we would get REAL snow a couple weeks later! I took the boys to the park and they loved sledding. They also went for a train ride!

The Sunday before Christmas we had our Cox Family Christmas. We went over to Jeremy's dad's house and exchanged gifts. The boys always love getting to see their cousins.

And of course, we had to make a trip to visit Santa!

Thankful

This Thanksgiving we have a lot to be thankful for. Colby brought home a bag with five kernels of corn and a little card in it. The card said the pilgrims would put five kernels of corn on their table to remind them that even thought they had plenty, there was a time when they had little and were close to starvation. He was supposed to put the bag on the table at Thanksgiving and tell five things he was thankful for. These are the five things my five year old is thankful for...

1. My daddy because he makes me chocolate milk.
2. My mommy because she gives me surprises.
3. Carson because he plays with me.
4. My dog, Landry, because he licks my face. (Not Colby's dog anymore)
5. My house because it's big. (Not big)

Aren't those sweet?! Although these past few months have been stressful, I have so many people in my life that give me love and happiness, and for them, I am thankful!

Fall

I can't believe it's already December! October and November seemed to fly by. We have been super busy lately...Colby is still going great in school. He is writing sentences now! He loves to write and draw and is really good at it! He started playing basketball too. He practices twice a week and they play their first game next weekend. Carson is into everything. We are still working on potty training, but I finally have some hope that he won't be in diapers forever! He will start a mother's day out program this week and is very excited about going to "school"! Jeremy started a new job a couple weeks ago. He seems to like it but the only downfall is that it's a night job. He works from 11pm-7am! It is definitely going to take Jeremy some time to get used to this new schedule. I am still working my second job a few nights a week and on the weekends. I also stay very busy with school. I feel like we are going all the time, but hopefully things will get back to normal eventually.
Here are a few pictures from our busy, but fun fall!

Happy 5th Birthday Colby!

I know this post is a few months late, but I have been so busy lately! So I will try my best to keep up with blogging more often. So my little boy is FIVE years old now! Where has the time gone?!?! He was so excited about turning five and starting Kindergarten. He LOVES being in school. He LOVES his teacher and all his new friends he has made. He even has a little girlfriend that he talks about ALL the time. The way he described her in the beginning was "she has brown hair and she wears bows in her hair". I have since met Avery and her mom and she DOES have bows in her hair! She is a sweet little girl. I am so glad that Colby is making new friendships and enjoying his time in school.

Every night when I tuck him into bed I lay down with him and he tells me all about his day. He tells me what he learned that day, who he played with at recess, what they did in PE, Art, Music, and Science, who he sat with at lunch and all the other exciting things that happened in his day. Those little talks that Colby and I have before he goes to sleep are priceless. I know they will be different and a lot less detailed, but I hope that our "talks" will continue as he grows up. I love that little guy so much!

Ok, back to his birthday...His birthday was the day before school started so we just had a small little party. His cousins and a few friends came. The kiddos had a blast playing games and climbing in the play area. Aunt Sandy and Uncle Phil were here the day before his birthday and he was so excited about the gift they gave him...a TENT! Colby is very into the "great outdoors" just like his daddy so he was all about this tent! He talks about camping out all the time!

Here are a few pictures of the tent and from his party. Also a look back at five precious years...
