Time Out

Jeremy and I are far from perfect parents. I think parenting is a learning process. You make mistakes and learn from them. And then there are times you make mistakes and don't care because you are so tired and frustrated. I just hope those times don't scar our children!

Time-out in our house is on the rug by the front door. The culprit has to sit on the rug until we tell them they can get up. Usually it's four minutes for Colby and two minutes for Carson, but we have been known to forget Colby there. (We can't forget Carson because he is usually crying the whole time). After sitting in time-out, they have to come and tell us why they were in time-out and say they are sorry. Carson has definitely spent more time in time-out than Colby had by this age. That's no shock for anyone who knows our little Carson though!
I don't remember why Carson was in time-out the other day, but this is the conversation Jeremy and I overheard Colby having with his little brother....

Colby: Carson, when you get in time-out, you have to say sorry so you can get up.
Carson: Yeah.
Colby: Say sorry, Carson. Say it alot of times so Mommy will let you up. That's how you do it.
Carson: Oh.
Colby: Carson, you didn't say sorry. Yell it really loud so they hear you like this...I'M SORRY!
Carson: SORRY!
Jeremy and I thought this was so funny. Colby is already trying to give Carson some brotherly advice....too bad they are teaming up against us already!
